The Security Forces Hospital was established in 1393 AH (1972 AD), when a small clinic was opened with very limited resources in the city of Riyadh and then expanded in 1396 AH (1975 AD) to become a hospital with an operating capacity of (20) beds. With the support of Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, and his deputy, Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, a hospital was built next to this dispensary with an operating capacity of (120) beds. Upon completion of its construction, its operation was assigned to a national company under the supervision and follow-up of representatives of the Ministry of Interior. This project was later called the Security Forces Hospital, and the construction phase was called the first phase project.

The second phase of the construction of a hospital began in 1402 AH (1981 AD) on a land area of ​​65,360 square meters. It was completed in 1406 AH (1985 AD) and the hospital continued to grow and develop. In 1409 AH (1988 AD), Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Interior, signed a contract to operate and manage the Security Forces Hospital and the Mobile Field Hospital in Makkah with one of the national companies specialized in the operation and maintenance of hospitals. At the end of 1412 AH (1991 AD) the contract was extended for other periods, as the awarding of these two contracts resulted in a tremendous development in the hospital's resources, as the number of beds increased until it reached (508) beds.

In addition, a number of new departments were opened and other existing departments were expanded, while advanced medical equipment was provided. In 1419 AH (1998 AD), the Ministry of Interior assumed responsibility for operating and maintaining the Security Forces Hospital and the Mobile Field Hospital in Makkah, and the hospital became known as the Security Forces Hospital Program.


Today, the Security Forces Hospital program has become one of the most reputable hospitals in the Kingdom. Currently, it has two branches, one in the Eastern Province and the other in Makkah Al Mukarramah, and it provides its services to employees of the Ministry of Interior and their families. It is currently witnessing the launch of new projects aimed at expanding its capacity to serve the largest possible segment, as the Prince Nayef Center for Diseases and Dialysis was established in 2008, and an eight-storey tower was approved for specialized medical purposes. The hospital is committed, through its mission, which aims to provide distinguished health services to reviewers with the best quality methods, and strives to develop and improve the quality of services in accordance with the best international standards.
